Hollywood Music TV Canada Tina Interviews C-Fiction

HMTV Canada Tina: 1. Hi C Fiction How are you doing still busy with your live shows? How was the turn over of attendee's on your recent one with Butterfly Coma?

C Fiction: The show was cool and we are right now in a position where it all starts to grow and everything becomes more important to us. Beside some shows we are busy with the completion of our album and at the same time we are producing a 4 track promo cd which will be sent over to some labels and booking agencies and of course to some promoters of certain festivals for 2008! Hope that we get a chance... ;-)

HMTV Canada Tina: 2. What was it like sharing the stage with; DRY KILL LOGIC (US), EKTOMORF (HUN), DEATH ANGEL (US) and RAGE (GER)?

C Fiction: Those shows are always an enrichment, especially if you play in front of a crowd that is more into your sound - like it was with DKL or Ektomorf! There you really notice if you do the proper thing. Those people expect more and you can't afford any mistakes. But it's a good reflection and you only learn of such experiences.

HMTV Canada Tina: 3. What are your favourite music venues do you plan on touring to the USA or Canada in the future?

C Fiction: For me personally it doesn't matter where I play, because in the end it all depends on what you can transport to the audience. People notice very soon if you are doing it with a half heart. But if you have convinced them once you will get back a lot from them. It's a circuit, a give and take - that makes it exciting. I hope that we can make it to the States and / or Canada anytime, but it all depends on the fucking money. We would love to play in different countries and we are always in contact with promoters abroad. I think that we will get an opportunity soon - and then we won't hesitate...

HMTV Canada Tina: 4. Whats the music scene like in Germany? What are the popular genres are they playing on radio and in the media currently?

C Fiction: At the time it's like hard music would get a revival, maybe like in the 80's! You can see it everywhere that kids wear shirts with skulls or a Randy Rhoads guitar on it e.g., even if they not really have a lot in common with that. But it's a development that shows all the kids that rock is cool - maybe they don't really understand what they are doing but they get in contact with that, even if it's an thing invented by the industry! At some fashion shops you can buy Motörhead and Sex Pistols or Ramones Shirts. We have still a very strong scene and it grows. But this all was made possible by the web 2.0 era mostly. It's easy to get new music - that's the big advantage of that all. The radioscene for that kind of music is small over here, so you have to focus on the internet and the typical press!

HMTV Canada Tina: 5. C- Fictions philosophy about music is awesome can you explain why music should be in constant motion and has to be renewed?

C Fiction: There is not very much to explain!!! Just listen to all the Metalcore stuff, that was released in the last months. To me, they all sound the same!!! 100% boring. They take some of the easier parts from Fear Factory and mix them up with some Maiden or early Halloween-like guitar harmonies. You know, I´m listening to metal now since `84-85. Everything what metalcore provides is nothing new to me. For shure, there are some cool bands like KSE or Unearth and Lamb of god, which can play and do their style in perfection but what are they in comparision to Mudvayne or Meshuggah... But honestly ,i dont see C-FICTION in the same league as, for instance, Mudvayne or Korn or Meshuggah which founded their own new style of metal. Our strength is to combine different styles and the ability to play then authentically.

HMTV Canada Tina: 6. C - Fiction has a scientific vibe to the name what is the origin of your band name?

C Fiction: Before C-FICTION,VEX and me had a progressive death-metal band that was called Complex Fiction. That was around `96-97. After we teamed up with Gavin Godgray(which is now doing ELASTTTIC and several other cool projects) in `98, we decided to change our style and the bandname into C-FICTION, just shortcutting Complex to the letter C. Since we got our current singer t-kay,theres no connection from the lyrics to the bandname anymore. t-kays lyrics are more reality related. Perhaps we better now change the bandname into C-REALITY,hahahaha. But wait: Remembering 9.11. when you saw the shocking pictures of the WTC in the news ,I bet you couldnt get that this has really happen. Isn't reality sometimes the biggest fiction that one could imagine of?

HMTV Canada Tina: 7. When did you form the band? Who are all the members of C- Fiction and how did you all meet?

C Fiction: The band was formed `98 by VEX, ART-UR(first drummer)and Gavin Godgray and me. Marc H-K joins C-FICTION since 2002. ART-UR was replaced by HARD-Y(2nd drummer) in 2004. HOLG-R is our current drummer now.He joins the band since 2 years due to the fact that HARD-Y moved to spain.

HMTV Canada Tina: 8. Can you tell us about your unique style of music? Influences? Who Writes your songs?

C Fiction: All songs are written by MF-C (bass) and T-KAY (vocals) and are then achieved by us all. Everyone brings his own style into it all and makes it with that to the typical C-FICTION Sound. Through all the different styles we are listening to, we get a good point of view to reflect what we are doing. I think it's more difficult to do this when you are limited to one genre. Everything comes into it -> pop, rock, blues, classic metal, etc! That makes it!

HMTV Canada Tina: 9. How does C- Fiction put alot of ingredients from the Metal-Universe in their songs to create a unique sound backrop? Do you have a special recording environment and instruments?

C Fiction: It's all about the DIY thing! We write and record the songs on our own. There's no one from outside who encroaches and we don't want any borders.

HMTV Canada Tina: 10. What are your rehearsals sessions like?

C Fiction: They are very disciplined and very intense because we want to do the best and move forward!!!

HMTV Canada Tina: 11. How is your new CD C-Fiction - "The Energy Of Sound" being recieved by your fans currently how are they reacting to your music?

C Fiction: I have heard no negative statements re our music up to now. And I don't think that these people lie. They all shall wait until we release our first full length album. So far we only gave little impressions, but there's a lot more to explore - trust us!!!

HMTV Canada Tina: 12. Do you have a main website where the fans can access your music and order CD's and merchandise?

C Fiction: At the time we are only promoting our music via our myspace site (www.myspace.com/cfiction)! If it should happen that we don't find a label who wants to release our album we would distribute it via this site. I hope that we don't have to but I think we can reach a lot by also doing this by ourselves.

HMTV Canada Tina: 13. Do you have a record label or are you going to stay independant? What are your hopes or goals for the future of C- Fiction?

C Fiction: Off course we want to release this album with a cool label behind us and which also believes in us! We are not the major label band so we want to stay independent and that's a very down to earth evaluation. Our expectations are not very big, but we look forward to go on tour, playing in different countries if possible and sell enough records that we don't have to invest all the hard earned money. To get into the game - that's the first goal. Everything else will be decided then. The future is absolutely unsure because the business is ailing, so we have to give everything and see what will be possible and what not!

HMTV Canada Tina: 14. Do you find the Internet as an effective marketing tool in promoting C-Fiction?

C Fiction: The internet is bane and blessing at the same time. We got in contact with a lot of peolpe which really like what we are doing. That gives us the motivation to go on. But on the other side you first have to put attention on you - and that's the big problem because approximately one billion bands want that too. As a consumer you have to select very well...

HMTV Canada Tina: 15. How do you like our music site at Hollywood Music TV?

C Fiction: Hollywood Music TV offers bands from all the world an unbelievable platform to promote their own music. Due to the construction of the site it's possible for every band to get creative. The idea of „Support the supporters“ is very cool because you can hardly be sure that you get support from other countries.Their own radio- and video - channel is also very helpful. But a first step for C-FICTION is to have to opportunity to favour us an interview - thanx for that... ;-))

HMTV Canada Tina: 16. What advice do you have for young musicians that wish to form their own bands in Germany?

C Fiction: There is only still one recipe that works and it's valid since the invention of rock music! ou haveto play live and promote your music through your concerts. Endurance is the keyword and of course a professionell working with you on it.

HMTV Canada Tina: 17. Before we close our interview is there anyone that you would like to acknowledge or any last words?

C Fiction: I would like to give a big thank you to all the people who supported us up to now. It's cool to see that ther'es so much support although we don't have released an album or played much live. That shows that music is all that counts!

Thank you C- Fiction for the opportunity of Interviewing your band for our Hollywood Music TV Canada Online Ezine. Really dig your tracks Energy of Sound, Pay the Price and Dime Mination that is an awesome Pantera's Domination tribute.

You Rock
