HMTV Canada: 1. Hi Flatline wow your band is very busy with many changes happening so fast how is the band doing?
RANDY WEITZEL: Strong as ever! We are taking a short gig break to work in our new bass player, Hector Gonzalez. We'll be back out and playing live by Sept 28!
PAULO: Yea, just decided to take a lil break and already those next shows are around the corner. Whatever, I was born ready.
HMTV Canada: 2. Recent news indicates that you parted ways with bassist Brad Crazy Face and your new chapter begins with Hector Gonzalez of Cheva, can you tell us more about your new bassist and current band members that are with Flatline today?

WEITZEL: Hector is a solid dude all around. He's doing a great job learning the material and we've already been working on new songs. METAL!

PAULO: He's the new 'new guy'. Brand spankin' new. We haven't even hazed him in yet.

WEITZEL: And there's Paulo and I on the guitar, Tim Hassemer on drums and Travis Johnson on vocals.

HMTV Canada: 3. Flatline can you provide new fans with a brief history of your band?
WEITZEL: We've been around the LA scene for a couple of years. We have toured the US an few times. Last year we toured the entire Northern Island of New Zealand. That was sick! We are working on our 4th cd so look for that next year. Finally with this line up we found all great players and our individual styles compliment each other so well that it's really a combination that can't go wrong.
HMTV Canada: 4. How did you become connected to make music?
PAULO: L.A.'s own Ankla hooked me up w/FLATLINE & vice versa.
GONZALES" i have gotten to know all the guys from doing shows w em and got to be real cool with em.when they sent me the offer to come try out I was like "HELL YEAH".after a few jams with them it feels like we have been jamming for years!!!
HMTV Canada: 5. What is your live shows like and how are fans reacting to your music?
PAULO: Massive energy! We break our backs for the fans, and they love every bit of it.
GONZALES: They were crazy before and I am sure with due respect to Brad it's gonna get more intense!!
HMTV Canada: 6. What is the latest news with the band? Do you have any upcoming shows or tours outside of the USA?
WEITZEL: Were just getting hector up to speed right now and working on new shit. We want to make sure that when we come back out that we will tear your face off. I think we'll gig locally for a bit, work out the bugs and then plan something big. I think the east coast is next, we'll see.
HMTV Canada: 7. Your current EP Process of Healing has some really powerful lyrics combined with a great metal sound. Your new track “God Is My Witness” is awesome. How do you go about writing songs and what are your musical influences?
WEITZEL: To be honest, "God" was sort of a throw away song when we started recording it. Paulo and the old bass player really didn't know the song because it was written before they were in the band. The lead & lyrics weren't even really written yet. I thought that I would just have some fun with it and over produce or layer it up with everybody. When we got done with it we were like, "Oh SHIT, people are gonna want to hear this live!". Trouble is we need about 7 more guitar players ha ha!!
PAULO: I was halfway content with the song, until I started layering & harmonizing all the lead rhythms, then it just became so ginormous after the acoustics were laid underneath. Now it's a monster. KILLER!

HMTV Canada: 8. What was your best experience or worst experience as a band any challenges as a band?
PAULO: Mixing various guitar styles between Randy & myself was a task within itself, a great challenge we were both hungry for when we began writing songs for 'The Process of Healing'
HMTV Canada: 9. Have you had any opportunities to work with other musicians or bands in the past? Which songs do you perform frequently at live music venues?
WEITZEL: Right now we are pumping songs off of our new album. Some fan favs are Collapse, Dying Breed and Nefarious. Be sure to check our vid for Nefarious on our myspace page @ www.myspace.com/flatlinemetal
HMTV Canada: 10. Do you have a record label and are you a member of any music organizations?
WEITZEL: No. We do everything ourselves, everything!
HMTV Canada: 11. I discovered Flatline through Hollywood Music TV. How do you like our music site at Hollywood Music TV?
WEITZEL: I think you guys are doing a great job! We've met some great people through HMTV. Steve, Sanaz, S3RRA SCARS and just did an interview with Jimmy Rock for his other show The Blood Stream. www.thestream.tv/watch.php?v=314
HMTV Canada: 12. What advice do you have for people who want to form their own bands today?
PAULO: Practice! Perform! Pummel!
WEITZEL: ...Pay your dues, don't be a dick, play hard and have loads of fun!
