HMTV Canada Tina Interviews Infest

www.myspace.com/infestbaiona

HMTV Canada Tina: 1. Hi Infest How are you?

Infest: Hey, I’m Flow, guitarist from the group INFEST, from France. Since 2003, we’ve been a grind/death band.

HMTV Canada Tina: 2. What is the meaning behind your band name infest?

Infest: There’s really no meaning behind our name. It’s just a simple yet effective name which evokes our rage.

HMTV Canada Tina: 3. Who are all the current band members and what inspired you to make music together when you formed your band in 2003?

Infest: The other members of INFEST are Sbeu on drums, Pat on bass and Bud on vocals. In 2003 our old formation EXCISE split so we decided to get Bud in to do a serious grind/death project with us. So that’s how INFEST was born.

HMTV Canada Tina: 4. Where are the band members based in Bayonne or Basque Country in Greenland?

Infest: All 4 of us live in the Basque country, around Bayonne in the south of France. Greenland is just a joke that we put on our myspace.

HMTV Canada Tina: 5. What do you consider your influences to be for your music?

Infest: Our influences are essentially Grindcore bands such as Nasum, Gadget, Napalm Death and most recently Afgrund and Mumakil. We also listen to Death metal but we feel a lot closer to Grindcore.

HMTV Canada Tina: 6. Are any of the band members in college or working other jobs currently?

Infest: Yes, we all work other jobs besides the band. Sbeu is a truck driver, Bud is a labourer, Pat is a glazier and I’m a barman.

HMTV Canada Tina: 7. What were the titles of the 4 furious tracks that was well recieved by the underground media (which underground affiliate or organization)?

Infest: This demo was our first which came out in 2004 to give the band recognition with both the public and the press. Our demo was very well received by all which encouraged us to carry on.

HMTV Canada Tina: 8. What was your 2006 demo 3 track promo CD called in 2006 which was released by Petunkeib Records? Was this demo CD well recieved by fans?

Infest: That MCD wasn’t given out to fans, it was basically a trampoline to find labels and after a few propositions we decided to work with Hurricane ent. For out album “Feel the Rage”

HMTV Canada Tina: 9. Why did Infest Sign a deal with Hurricane Entertainment and not Petunkeib Records?

Infest: Petunkeib weren’t looking to sign a band back then they just helped us to record our MCD. They’re from where we’re from and they do really serious studio recordings. Thank you to them.

HMTV Canada Tina: 10. Can you tell us anything about your latest CD "Feel The Rage" anything from messages to inspirations to your biggest challenges in producing the CD?

Infest: Feel the Rage » is the fruit of several years work and we’re really proud of it. It was recording under awesome conditions and was well received by the press in general. Our next challenge is now to concentrate on our next album which should show up at the beginning of 2009.

HMTV Canada Tina: 11. How do you think your music has evolved or changed in comparison since you first formed Infest in 2003?

Infest: I think that INFEST’s music has become more and more brutal and it’ll continue like that. We’ve also accentuated the efficiency and less on the technical part cos we’re a stage band. Our next tracks are a lot more violent that “Fell The Rage” and we can’t wait to get them out.

HMTV Canada Tina: 12. What are Infest inspirations or topics in their song writing process and who writes your lyrics?

Infest: Bud wrote the lyrics to « Feel The Rage », for the tracks that we’re currently working on Sbeu is also writing stuff. We speak about everyday life, man’s stupidity, two-faced people etc etc.

HMTV Canada Tina: 13. What bands has Infest shared the stage with?

Infest: We’ve played with a number of bands since 2003. Like Inhumate, Goryptic, Gojira, Enhancer, Black Bomb A, Hertz and Silence, Bestial Devastation, Emeth, Epitome… The list is very long.

HMTV Canada Tina: 14. Tell us in your words your experience with the Famous Soul Grinding Festival where did theis take place in 2007?

Infest: It was an awesome gig organised by very experienced people. The crowd was mental and backstage we had an awesome party. It was a very memorable show. We thank again the organizers of Grind Your Soul for that amazingly brutal festival.

HMTV Canada Tina: 15. What were the highlights of your second tour in Spain and Portugal in November of 2007?

Infest: We went on tour with Goryptic and we also had an awesome experience. We had a lot of amazing shows, mainly in Braga, Madrid and Tarragona. You must go to Spain, it’s pretty awesome.

HMTV Canada Tina: 16. Do you plan on another tour or have any upcomming shows?

Infest: This year we’re going to concentrate on our second album which should be out at the beginning of 2009. After that we’ll be touring before summer and possibly do a few festivals during the summer.

HMTV Canada Tina: 17. Currently Infest is focusing on another new full length Cd to be released in 2009. What can we expect from your next album?

Infest: The album should be more brutal and more intense. We’re just starting to write so I’ll tell you more in a few months but it will please extreme music amateurs.

HMTV Canada Tina: 19. Any videos in the works for infest with the production of the new CD?

Infest: It’s an idea that we have thought about. We’ll see if our budget and the calendar will allow us. We’ve already got a like video on our first album which you can also watch on our myspace: www.myspace.com/infestbaiona

HMTV Canada Tina: 20. How is the internet helping Infest for marketing their music, digital distribution, collaborating with PR's and networking with your fan base?

Infest: The internet is obviously an indispensable tool for the promotion of our band. We’re actually doing this interview via the internet. We can communicate quickly with other, tell our news and stay in contact with everyone, everywhere. Awesome invention.

HMTV Canada Tina: 21. What is your opinion of the music industry today and whats the music scene like in Basque country?

Infest: The music industry is very hard. But that doesn’t stop good bands from getting out there. In Basque country we have the example of Gojira who knew to export not only in their own country but everywhere else.

HMTV Canada Tina: 22. What are Infest goals and hopes for the future?

Infest: We hope to tour a lot and why not come see you guys in Canada

HMTV Canada Tina: 23. Before we close our interview do you have any shout outs or any last words?

Our CD “Feel the Rage” is now distributed in Canada by Plastic Head, so don’t hesitate to contact them for it. You can also contact us on our myspace: www.myspace.com/infestbaiona I must also thank you for this interview and see you very soon on stage in Canada. Support the Underground.

Thank You Infest for allowing HMTV Canada Online Ezine to Interview your band.
