HMTV DJ Tina: 1. Hi Florin how are you?
NOI: Hello Tina, I am at home with the band and I feel very good.
HMTV DJ Tina: 2. Are you working towards producing an album soon?
NOI: Yes, we are working for the new album, we want to lunch it soon, but we still have to work at the new compositions until their final shape.
HMTV DJ Tina: 3. Do you have any ideas for art design for your new album cover?
NOI: The album cover is still on the drawing board, it has to represent the album’s material, to have a catching aspect regarding a commercial viewpoint and it must combine with our music.
HMTV DJ Tina: 4. Have you thought of a name for your upcoming album you plan to produce this year?
NOI: The album will be called „United Souls”. We picked this name because we all live under the same sky regardless the country or continent, and we all are humans. We musn’t forget that we are humans and that we have a soul!
HMTV DJ Tina: 5. How about touring or live shows any planned for 2008?
NOI: We haven’t planned anything for 2008, not until we finish our album, although we have one live show every month here in the town where I am from. We choose to finish the album first and then set on a promo tour and then start for the new material....we are glad that we have and know what to do.
HMTV DJ Tina: 6. Noi has had many set backs from the band to continue producing their music are things better?
NOI: Yes, unfortunately we had problems because we encountered people with old habbits, let’s not forget that Romania was for 45 years under the communist regiem, and for many it was hard to change. Unfortunately here, Artists aren’t much helped, encouraged and promoted. It was very hard at the begining, but we didn’t back down. We are happy that always we are welcomed by the public and this is very important for us because we write and sing for them.
HMTV DJ Tina: 7. How about your new tracks Vise, Love and Angel are they being well received by your fans?
NOI: The new song are well received by the public. They are metaphorical songs , „Vise” and „Love”, and the song „Angel” isn’t finished yet, is not in the final form.
HMTV DJ Tina: 8. Serena, Serena has a very beautiful singing voice does she help out with vocals in NOI?
NOI: Yes, Serena, by her name Laura , my wife, will place her voice on some of the songs, she is part of the band. She has a beautiful voice and we will try to make a combination between rock and simphony.
HMTV DJ Tina: 9. Do you have any spiritual influences in your music?
NOI: We make music as we feel it, we can’t say we follow a spiritual guideline, we just wish that our music will be felt deep inside by everyone, it is music for the soul.
HMTV DJ Tina: 10. What do you draw from inspiration when producing your music?
NOI: We don’t have a muse or something like that, music just cames from our souls, we write what we feel and we wish to give a part of our souls to the public listening to us.
HMTV DJ Tina: 11. How has NOI’s music evolved or changed since the band formed in 2000?
NOI: Like any begining, it was hard, we didn’t have professional instruments and the sound was pretty weak, but with time we bought better instruments, professional ones, and then the sound changed. For us the sound is very important. We put a great accent on quality. We do what we can so that we can have the best sound, but it is hard having one with many of the studios equipment.
HMTV DJ Tina: 12. Is the current line up of members the same?
NOI: Since 2000 the band’s line-up changed, because not all of them were serious, and not all wanted a career in music. The actual line-up it’s ok from our point of view!
HMTV DJ Tina: 13. Who are the band members and their roles in NOI?
NOI: The band is: Alex - bass, Eugen - keyboards, Dan - solo guitar, George - harmony guitar, Stefan Leonas - drums, Laura - soprano and me, Florin the vocalist. We all participate in equal amount at what we call the artistic act, it is team work.
HMTV DJ Tina: 14. What do you consider NOI’s main influences to be?
NOI: We can’t say we are influenced by someone because we wish to come with our own style. We place great accent on originality and making original music. We are not inspired by other bands, we simply are NOI.
HMTV DJ Tina: 15. Who writes your songs?
NOI: All the songs are written by us, we all participate at making the songs and lyrics, we work as a team and that’s the best. Each of us has it’s own idea or opinion, and then we choose all that is best.
HMTV DJ Tina: 16. What are the main topics or themes from your songs?
NOI: Our main theme is what means to be a human, with ups and downs, mostly we wish to send a positive message and try together to make a better world, a world where there is love, peace and harmony so that our children could have a future.
HMTV DJ Tina: 17. Do you ever write about personal experiences in your music?
NOI:. We write what we feel, we find our personal experiences in a small amount in our songs.
HMTV DJ Tina: 18. What is the most intellectually challenge you look for when producing your music?
NOI: We wish to send as much as we can through our music but it is imposible to send everything, always there will be something else and so on, we make metaphorical combinations so that we won't expose all the time the message, wishing that the public can find itself at least in one song. Each one of the people in the public receives the music differently.
HMTV DJ Tina: 19. How does NOI put the sound and melody to their lyrical content?
NOI:. We make this combination because it helps us send our message through the songs, in the songs we can find hope, love, straying, riot and many other.... the text must be combined with music and sound, it is a whole thing. Without this combination it’s not possible everything is based on the message we send, we don’t a standard in the way which we combine sound, music and text, everything is made regarding the song.
HMTV DJ Tina: 20. What are NOI’s criteria for a well mixed or engineered song?
NOI: When we make a new song we settle first what will the message be and then we make the song structure or „blue-print”. We then set what classical instruments sounds we use on the keyboards, then comes the drums, the guitars ad then the voice. It’s a lot to speak of this from a technical and musical point of view that can’t be said in a few words.
HMTV DJ Tina: 21. Before we wrap up our interview what are your hopes for NOI in the future?
NOI: We wish to colaborate only with HMTV because it’s serious and complex company, we decided that HMTV will be exclusively involved with everything that is NOI band, we wish to work together from now on, wishing that HMTV our only producing and promoting company even after 30 years if we are still healthy. We wish to lunch as many albums as we can, since „Music is our life and rock is the way”
HMTV DJ Tina: 22. Do you have any shout outs or last words?
NOI: To the fans we will say that we are always near them, that we love and respect them. We thank them for being beside us, for their support, for their encouragement gave to us, but mostly for being near us when we were passing through difficult times. We owe them everything, for them we write and sing! We thank the entire HMTV family and to you Tina for taking us among you, we thank you for your support,encouragement .... we thank you for all!
